Two quotes have motivated my ten year journey in fashion. The first one is from my mentor and creator of the fashion brand Richter Goods, Mario "If you create a beautiful product, beautiful people will find it.” Meanwhile the second quote is an acronym from Chef Paul “Frenchy” Denamiel: “Keep It Simple Stupid” or K.I.S.S. My philosophy is that thoughtful design perfects the basics; yet it is so authentic to itself, it can be appreciated by the public through its quality alone. I love to cook so I like to explain my Design Principals through that lens; you wouldn't put ketchup on a Prime Ribeye (at least I hope not). The star of the plate is the beef, but that doesn't mean it can't be made better through cooking technique or what it's served with. It’s the small details that pair perfectly with the main to create the final dish. Something acidic to cut through the fattiness of the meat, something crispy to add texture to the soft tender beef. The same ideas can be applied to fashion design. If you have a beautiful fabric, it should be the star of the show, accompanied by extremely well thought out small details, trims, and finishes that create the "perfect dish".
